Australian artist Stuart Green has created a variety of sculptures inspired by ceramic production that were intended to go into a vacant landscaped site prior to any buildings being developed.The sculptures can be found throughout China Green, a new high quality mixed use inner city re-development on the site of the former Australian Fine China Company in Subiaco, Western Australia.The Australian Fine China company that previously existed on the site created just that; commercial fine tableware ceramics and china. As part of the manufacture of ceramics, key processes, such as rotation, spinning and moulding were used.As this was a large production facility there was also a strong element of repetition, with units being produced over and over in a series of streamlined manufacture. The predominant colour was white and off white, as white clay and white plaster moulds were ever present.The circle and quadrants or part circles were the repeated motif of both the waste, the fabrication moulds and the finished products.This motif of spinning, repetition, mould fragments, white circles and quadrants became the inspiration for the artworks.
