melbourne-based installation artists christian wagstaff and keith courtney come together in collaboration to produce ‘house of mirrors‘ for the 2016 dark mofo festival in hobart, tasmania. a dark-vision of altered perception, the nightmarish maze explores uncertainty, claustrophobia, visual distortion, and anxiety, amongst others.
constructed with forty tonnes of steel and another fifteen tonnes of mirrors, the bare-basics installation relies on precise geometry and spatial design to excite visitors. ‘house of mirrors’ was commissioned by the museum for old and new art (MONA), produced in collaboration with australian creative agency CPS. the pieces was presented on site at the dark mofo festival in hobart, tasmania.
